Happy Songkran day ... Yeah!! Happy Thailand New Year

I just had a chance to go back Thailand during Apr13-16 for the country special New Year. The weather was very very very very hot. I felt like I was melting when I was outside the aircon-ed room. So, there is the story of Thailand New Year.

In old time, Thai people did not have a watch (of course & those westerner had not arrived yet) and the fact is Apr13 of every year is the hottest day in the country, in the people mind it is quite unique day then here we go let's make it a New Year day. The pouring water tradition came a bit later... since the weather is very hot (it was about 5 - 10 degrees lower than now a day though) so their idea came to "Umm it's so hot why don't we just throw water to each other so we can see hot chick booby (Oops wrong story )" <<<revise>>> "Umm it's so hot why don't we just pour water to each other so we can cool down (a little bit)". This tradition is quite famous because it is one of not so many traditions allow boy-meet-girl freely without their parent sight (but not too far away) so this is one of many reasons.

Now a day the tradition has changed from pouring water to throwing or even shooting water (using water gun). And from softly put the power onto each other faces become putting it agressively everywhere you want not just a face (hehehehe you know what I mean, wow this tradition is so HOT) but be aware that this behavior is illegal in Thailand.

... I better end this topic here or else it will be like never ending because it was so many things happen during these few days of Songkran festival.

Oh FYI, Apr13 in Thailand now is The Elderly Day & Apr14 is the Family Day.

Hope you found the good spot of this great festive season. (maybe rather found HOT CHICK, hehehe) See yah!

Report from Thailand, the land of smile. (I'm wondering who changed it to "Amazing Thailand")
